UH System Implements Vaccine Mandate

Those who wish to attend University of Hawai´i campuses in any capacity have some new rules to follow.

UH updated its COVID-19 policies Monday, Aug. 23 to require all students, faculty and visitors to prove they are vaccinated or submit to once weekly testing. Visit the link above for more specific details.

The university’s decision comes after the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) granted full authorization to the Pfizer vaccine. More than 200 million doses of the two-shot vaccine have been administered nationwide, as well as several hundred million more across the globe, under an emergency use authorization. The Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines continue to be administered under the emergency use classification.

UH students have the option to take classes remotely online. Those who choose that option are not subject to the new COVID-19 vaccine/testing mandate.

The University also said that fans will not be allowed at sporting events for the time being.
