2 New COVID-19 Cases Identified Among Kaua‘i Residents

The Hawai‘i State Department of Health Kaua‘i District Health Office reported two new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, Jan. 7.

Today’s cases are both adult residents: the source of infection for one case is community-acquired, and the other is travel-related. All active cases are in isolation, and one case remains hospitalized on O‘ahu. Close contacts are being identified, directed to quarantine, and offered testing.

Today’s cases bring the number of active cases to 15, with 184 cumulative cases. Kaua‘i’s cumulative case count includes 157 confirmed locally, one probable, and 26 positive cases diagnosed elsewhere, as they received their pre-travel test results after arriving on island.
