3 New COVID Cases Identified on Friday
The Kaua‘i District Health Office reported three new positive cases of COVID-19 on Friday, bringing the total number of on-island active cases to 12. All cases are in isolation and three of the cases are hospitalized.
One new case is a female resident who is a close contact of a current case. The second is a male traveler who participated in the state’s pre-travel testing program but received an inconclusive test result and re-tested while on island. The third recent case is a male resident with no known travel history but has had frequent contact with visitors.
Eleven of 12 active cases are related to travel. There are currently 20 individuals in Department of Health-directed quarantine.
Kaua‘i’s cumulative case count is 71 plus one probable. An additional four of the current active cases received their positive test result after arrival. These cases will not be reflected in the Kaua‘i’s cumulative total as they are counted in the county of origin, per CDC reporting guidelines.
