Kaua‘i Reports 2 New Cases of COVID-19

The Kaua‘i District Health Office today reported two new positive cases of COVID-19 Monday, just after the state Department of Health released figures saying the island’s case total remained at 40.

The current number of active cases now stands at seven, according to the District Health Office. The cumulative total of cases to date is 42.

Monday’s cases are adult residents and were tested because they are household contacts of Saturday’s cases. The two cases announced on Saturday were unrelated to each other and unrelated to the current cluster of cases on Kaua‘i, the District Health Office said. All four of the most recent cases are travel-related.

All the new cases are in isolation and contact investigations are ongoing. Close contacts will be identified and notified directly by DOH personnel and offered a test. Updates on new positive cases will be announced as they are confirmed.

As a reminder, officials urge the public to refrain from large gatherings with people outside of your immediate household. If you must go out, wear a mask, keep your physical distance from others, and stay outdoors as much as possible.
