Kaua‘i Agency on Elderly Affairs to host Disaster Preparedness and Wellness Fair on July 25

The county of Kaua‘i Agency on Elderly Affairs will hold its Disaster Preparedness and Wellness Fair on July 25, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Līhu‘e Civic Center.

Multiple vendors and resources will be available during the fair, including resources on caring for the elderly and information on advanced care planning such as simple wills, power of attorney and advanced health care directives. There will also be resources for emergency planning around medications including health and medical supplies, fall prevention information and other caregiver support.

During the fair, short informational sessions will be held in the Līhu‘e Civic Center’s Moikeha rooms A and B, along with informational tables with the presenters listed below.

  • 9-9:15 a.m. – Public Health Nurses on emergency preparedness and medications in an emergency
  • 9:20-9:35 a.m. – Adult Protective Services on mandated reporters
  • 9:40-9:55 a.m. – Kaua‘i Fire Department on fire prevention, evacuation, and disaster planning
  • 10-10:15 a.m. – Legal Aid Society on advanced health care directives
  • 10:20-10:35 a.m. – American Medical Response on fall prevention program
  • 10:40-10:55 a.m. – Agency on Elderly Affairs and Alzheimer’s Association on caregiver support and resource information.

All participants will also have an opportunity to win a gift basket.
